The story of The Optical Shop begins with the personal journey of our founder, Walter Cabrera, whose early challenges with vision in Abbott Elementary inspired a lifelong dedication to optics. His kindergarten teacher noticed that Walter's difficulty in class was not due to a lack of comprehension, but rather because he struggled to see the board clearly. Raised by Guatemalan immigrant parents, Walter's early eye care needs were a new experience for his family. Despite their unfamiliarity with the nuances of optical quality, they ensured he received an eye exam, leading to his first pair of glasses at age five. This pivotal moment sparked Walter's passion for optics. Now, with 15 years of experience in the optical industry, Walter leads our team with a mission to bridge the knowledge gap in our community. We're dedicated to educating each patient and providing quality eyewear, standing out in an industry often focused on quick sales.
